Adromischus filicaulis 'Red Spots'

Adromischus filicaulis 'Red Spots' is a cultivated form of the South African species Adromischus filicaulis, found in rocky, arid habitats of the Western and Northern Cape. This selection is recognised for its fleshy, cylindrical leaves marked with reddish spotting, which becomes more intense in bright light and under dry conditions. Plants form low clumps of short, branched stems, remaining compact in cultivation. In maturity, slender flowering stems appear with small tubular flowers that are greenish to whitish, often flushed with purple at the tips.

Care Tips

• Light: Needs bright light to full sun to encourage strong leaf spotting and compact growth.
• Water: Water sparingly, allowing soil to dry fully between applications; reduce watering further in winter.
• Media: Best grown in a gritty, free-draining substrate to prevent excess moisture around roots.
• Fertiliser: Feed lightly with a diluted cactus fertiliser during the active growing season.
