Cymbidium Black Stump 'Come in Spinner'

Cymbidium Black Stump 'Come in Spinner'

Cymbidium Black Stump 'Come in Spinner' is a registered hybrid developed from Cymbidium Australian Midnight × Cymbidium Cricket. Bred by R. Clement in 2009, this cultivar is admired for its very dark maroon blooms arranged along cascading flower spikes. Suited to pot-only culture in cool to temperate climates, it performs reliably when grown under protection with bright filtered light.

Care Tips

  • Light: Bright, indirect light or morning sun; avoid harsh midday exposure.
  • Water: Water generously in active growth; reduce in winter but do not allow to dry completely.
  • Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity with airflow to prevent fungal issues.
  • Media: Use a free-draining orchid bark mix; never plant in garden soil or open ground.
  • Temperature: Thrives in cool to temperate zones (10–28°C); frost protection is essential.
  • Fertiliser: Fortnightly feeding with balanced orchid fertiliser in growth; switch to bloom booster before flowering.
  • Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years after flowering or when pot becomes crowded.
