This plant is easily recognised by its thick, soft leaves covered in dense silvery trichomes, which give it a velvety appearance. It forms an open, upright rosette and produces a vibrant red floral spike topped with violet tubular flowers. Adapted to bright, arid conditions, T. harrisii is a resilient species and a popular choice for its unique texture and contrast between foliage and bloom.
